Shortly after E3 kicked off with the Microsoft press conference, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer took to the stage and announced a feature that had many consumers, himself included, wondering if it were possible. Phil officially announced that as of this holiday season, the Xbox One will be backwards compatible with hundreds of Xbox 360 titles with many many more being added to the list in the following months.
This is fantastic news for anyone who decided they weren’t going to ditch their library of 360 titles, as now they can be played directly from your Xbox One and the features such as Game DVR and screenshots can be used on the older titles. If that wasn’t good enough, it was also revealed that you would be able to play your old titles with friends running the same title on their 360, even if you’re using your Xbox One.
Notable titles that are already set for the backwards compatibility include Mass Effect, Banjo Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and Kameo. Click here for a complete list from Microsoft!
If you’re a Xbox Preview user, it’s time to get your game on and try out the backwards compatibility, otherwise, you’ll have to wait until this holiday season. Don’t worry though. It’s just around the corner!
